HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELOVED GHANA
======================
A STATEMENT FROM OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
=======================
Moses writes.....✍🏾
In the chronicles of time, somewhere in our past, today was a day of relief, a day where the yoke of colonization was broken off the neck of Gold Coast. It was a day that, many couldn't live to see, barrels of blood were shed just to see that day, it was indeed a day that threw a wave of liberation to other sister countries. Today in history, Ghana gained its political independence from colonial rule. We ought to celebrate it and reflect on our past and reaffirm our commitment to continue the course of not just freedom but of economic liberty and justice.
Though we are 64 years post independence today, there are so many things that we are not proud of as a nation if we are going to compare our gains with our age mates like Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and others which are even giving us loans and aid today. The gap is by far large. We can not do anything about what happened in the past but we can do something about this moment and tomorrow. Let's focus our energies on the positive and what we can do to rise from our ruins.
Often than not, we keep hearing deblitating messages of how we could not sustain our true independence economically and missed the industrial revolution. If we are not proud of ourselves and our only country probably because someone or some persons did not do things right, what then are we doing to right those wrongs so that our children and generations to come would not share this same sentiment of ours? Or we are folding our arms in our slumber for history to repeat itself? It is a moment of deeper reflection on our history to give us a gauge into the future.
Contrary to popular opinions that, Africa and Ghana in particular are still behind because of the negative effects of colonization, let me remind you that, it was not only Africa or Ghana that was colonized. Malaysia was also a British colony. Let's burry the self consolatory thoughts. The whole United States of America was discovered by one sailor, Christopher Columbus and of course was colonized. Today, United States is a world-class economy, a superpower and a preferred destination for almost every person who seeks greener pastures abroad.
It is about time we stopped shifting blames and get to work. If we have realized the mistakes of our fathers and are cognizant of the effects of colonization on our prosperity and where we are going, that should even positioned us well to work our way out and put our continent on the trajectory of success. Let's be angry enough in our spirits and support every good course in our societies. Change is gradual and every little contribution to change counts.
Massive change comes from many little efforts. The waiting period is over.
Let's start thinking entrepreneurship and devise ways to create jobs for ourselves, our brothers and sisters. Why would you be seeking for a job that government either borrows or wait for funds from donotions to pay? Yes of course we ought to serve our country through public service but do not be too comfortable there. Nothing prevent us from doing something extra.
It is possible to turn things around if we come together as a united front. We represent the hope of our country. We the youth are the torch bearers of Africa. If we fail to make a positive impact, we failed generations unborn. Let's reignite our spirits of patriotism and contribute our quota judiciously to the advancement of our democracy and the betterment of our country.
Let me use this circular to remind every young person about the opportunities that exist in the Africa Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA which commenced trading activities on 1st January, 2021. We at YALDA Ghana are ready to enlighten anyone who is interested in exploring these opportunities at the AfCATA.
In conclusion, I want to retreat that, everything is possible. Impossiblility is the state of mind. We can build a prosperous Ghana and Africa together. The future is bright. Let's keep an eye on the light even as we endure some form of hardships. It shall pay off someday. Let's go out and build our beloved Ghana and Africa at large.
Long live Ghana
Long live Africa
Long live YALDA
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
I love you,😘dear Ghana🇬🇭
