UHAS SRC and Local NUGS election 2019, has faced a lot of brouhaha. Ranging from various injunctions to court cases with series of allegations associated with the whole electioneer process. The EC since day one has been battling with strong forces in every aspect including nomination issues, formation of vetting committee through to manifesto reading and campaigning . Since the beginning of the process there has not been a single day that the EC and the election process hasn't been slapped with an issue. After thriving through a condense court case just last two days on the accounts of illegality of the electioneer process, the EC only wakes up today to be slapped with a new trouble but fortunately, they come out strong once again.

In the early hours today, rumours were  speculated that one of the Federal Presidential Aspirants named Oppata Jeffery with his vice Max Kartey  have decided to stepped down from the race. As matter of fact the said camp openly confessed in an official document communicating to the entire student populace that they no longer want to continue the race of the presidency but rather have decided to throw their support to another candidate. The EC on hearing this matter about some few hours ago issued a disclaimer stating that
"The Electoral Commission of the Students Representative Council, University of Health and Allied Sciences will like to by this communiqué debunk a claim that one of the  Aspirants for Federal SRC President has withdrawn from the race".  The Commission however received a letter by the said candidate, Mr. Opata Jeffrey Nartey requesting to withdraw from the race. In accordance with the constitutional instrument for running this election, the EC humbly rejected the request since it failed to meet the number of days required for a withdrawal from the election. The EC as a commission stated categorically  that every aspirant was still in the race and on the 9th of April, 2019 could be voted for. The commission will continue to strive to provide the UHAS populace with a free and fair election.

The disclaimer has raised alot of arguments and controversies of which I wouldn't be surprised if another court case is filled. Please stay glued as you will be updated with any developments  on the UHAS SRC and Local NUGS election 2019. Meanwhile , the much anticipated Presedential Debate is set to take place tomorrow on the 6th of April, 2019. Keep your fingers crossed.
